Power Supply and Fuses

This equipment is a Class I product and must be connected to a power supply system which provides an earth continuity connection.
Suitable cabling to the supply should be provided within the rack system. Consideration should be given to the rating information of the unit and the effects that overloading of circuits might have on the cabling and over-current protection devices.

Changing the Mains Fuse

WARNING: ALWAYS REMOVE THE POWER CABLE FROM THE HSM POWER INPUT CONNECTOR BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO CHANGE ANY FUSE.

Caution! THIS UNIT IS DOUBLE POLE FUSED.

The unit has two mains fuses, one for each Live and Neutral line. The fuse holder is located at the IEC connector at the rear of the unit. To gain access to the fuses use a screwdriver blade to lever out the fuseholder. Should any of the fuses require replacement they must be of the following type:

·         Fuse Type: 3.15A anti-surge (T) HRC Ceramic, UL recognised, IEC127, 20mm.

Connecting Power

A power cable suitable for the local mains connectors is supplied with each HSM. Plug the cable into the IEC style connector on the power module at the rear of the HSM. There is no on/off switch on the HSM, so it is ready to operate when it is connected and power is turned-on.

Booting Up

If a Console terminal is connected to the HSM when power is applied or when the HSM is reset using the RESET button on the front panel, the following booting up message is displayed:

The HSM is booting up, please wait...   Booting complete.   Secure>

The booting up message may include an error message, as shown:

The HSM is booting up, please wait...   LMK File read error   Old LMK File read error   Booting complete.   Secure>

The booting up message may be preceded by a few spurious characters. These can be ignored.
